Shakopee Area Catholic School Physical Education and Health Physical Education Overview:
SACS physical education is based on national standards and our goals are to develop individuals who are proficient at movement and can use physical activity to:
* maintain or develop fitness
* develop skills for sport and recreation
* use movement for self-expression, enjoyment, challenge, and social interaction
* demonstrate responsibility, cooperative skills, character, sportsmanship
* improve self-esteem and self-confidence
* appreciate rules and safety We also strive to meet the needs of those with disabilities or limited abilities.
Physical Education Strands
* Demonstrate competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
* Applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.
* Exhibits a physically active lifestyle. * Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
* Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
* Demonstrates understanding and respect for differences among people in physical activity settings.
* Understand that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.
